Life Is A Vapor

To everything in life there is a start and a finish, a beginning and an end.  One day someone starts school and another day they graduate from college.  A person goes to his first day of employment and then on another day retires from work.  Everything is only for a particular season, it never goes on forever.  Even our allotted time here is only temporary and goes by so quickly that the bible calls it a vapour that vanishes away and a flower that fadeth away.  James 4:14: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.  For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

I Peter 1:24: For all flesh is as grass, and the glory of man as the flower of grass.  The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

But there is one thing that WILL never end and will go on forever, and that is eternal life, which is a free gift to those who put their trust in Jesus as their saviour.  Heaven will be a wonderful place, where there will be no sin, sickness, sorrows, or troubles.  All you have to do to go there is accept Jesus into your heart.  He loves you so much that he gave everything for you to pay for your sins so that you could go to heaven.  But you must be born again to go there.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
3:6 That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the spirit.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The good news is the gift of eternal life will never end and will go on forever and never fade away if you get born again.

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
3:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.

Don't Be Left Out

No one likes to feel left out, they like to be included.  When people look at a school program, music or band program, or graduation program, etc., they always look to make sure their name is in it, that they are included.  But of a much more important place to have your name written is in the Lamb's Book of Life.  Every person who ever lived had their name written in the Book of Life at one time because God loves everyone and sent his only begotten son to pay for all the sins of the whole world, so that anyone could be saved, no matter what degree of a sinner.  John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  I John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

You see, God loves everyone and wants everyone to be saved, but some people will not come to Jesus and trust in him alone to save their souls, and so God has no choice, but to blot their name out of The Book of Life.  God cannot permit any sin into Heaven, and that is why he provided us with Jesus, to bear the punishment for our sins and pay the price for them, so we could enter Heaven by Jesus's merit. Instead of our name being blotted out of the Book of Life, our sins are blotted out by Jesus's shed blood in our place, if we accept him as our saviour.  Isaiah 44:22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that you sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

Repent does not mean to repent of all your sins, it means to admit you are a sinner and deserving of going to hell, but are putting your trust in what Jesus did for you on the cross and that he was buried and rose again as payment for your sin, and only through his mercy will you be allowed into heaven.

Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Philippians 4:3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

Who would not want their name in the Book of Life.  How tragic and how heartbreaking it would be when the book is opened to look for you name and it is not there, but blotted out, because you didn't trust Jesus as your saviour.

If you have never trusted Jesus as your saviour, I hope you will today.  The bible says that today is the day of salvation.  We are not promised another tomorrow.  2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Everyone Is A Sinner

Some people think they are okay and safe because they are not as bad of a sinner as other people. They reason that if they're pretty good by man's standards there is nothing to worry about. But in all reality, that is a false asumption because the bible says that we are all sinners, and all means every single person who has ever lived. The worst of sinners and the least of sinners all come under the umbrella of "all". All means all, not just some.

Romans: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Man's standards are not God's standards. No matter how good of a person you think you are, you still fall short; we all do no matter who we are. That is just the simple fact of life. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden by eating the forbidden fruit, sin entered into the human race and every person born since then has inherited a sinful nature, which in turn sins. Romans 5:12 Whereby as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (Speaking of Adam).

Galatians 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

What is sin? 1 John 3:4: Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 3:5: And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. No person could ever keep all of God's commandments. It is impossible because of our inherited sin nature. That is the reason Jesus died on the cross to take our sins away by paying the penalty for them. He never did one sin, but he paid for our sins so we could obtain forgiveness and be justified in God's sight.

Since everyone is a sinner, everyone needs a saviour. 1 John 4:14: And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

1 John 2:2: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. Your sins have already been paid for by Jesus, but in order to receive the gift of your sins forgiven and everlasting life, you must accept him as your own personal saviour. John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Who Are Saints

Who are saints? A lot of people think that a saint is someone who does good deeds for others, like helping people who are going through hard times from a natural disaster, etc., and we should help people in that way, but the biggest disaster for anyone is to die unsaved and be cast into hell forever and ever. It has been heard so many times said about someone, "She is really a saint". But in the bible the word "saint" means someone who is a saved person, born again by faith in Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's. The word saints is used 61 times in the new testament, and it always refers to a Christian. So if you want to be a saint and don't know Jesus as your saviour, just turn to him for salvation and you will become a saint instantly, even before you have a chance to do anything good for anybody. Of course, born again Christians who want to be like Jesus will certainly want to help people because that is the way Jesus is, especially by going through all the pain to save sinful people like you and me. The most compassionate thing you can do for someone else is to tell them how to be saved so they can have eternal life and not have to spend an eternity in hell. If someone saw their neighbor's house on fire, if they had a heart they would go over there and warn the people in the house to get out. Jesus loves everyone and is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Matthew 5:29 And if thy right hand offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30: And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Obviously, no one would ever cut off their hand or pluck out their eye, but what Jesus is saying is that it would be far better to do that than to be cast into hell. Jesus loves you and wants to save you. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God has already done everything he could to keep you out of hell by giving Jesus to pay for your sins, so you would not have to pay for them yourself. All you have to do is call upon him and put your total trust in his death on the cross and his ressurection three days later. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Confessing Jesus Before Men

The bible says if we confess Jesus before men that he will also confess us before God and the angels. If we are saved, when we see Jesus we will not be ashamed if we have followed him wholly and kept his Word and confessed him before men, like the bible tells us to do.
Matthew 10:32: Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

10:33: But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Luke 12:8: Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

Revelation 3:5: He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I was confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Some people will not confess Jesus before men because they love the praise of men more than the praise of God. John 12:42: Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out ot the synagogue.

I Thessalonians 2:4: But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

Galations 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Confessing Jesus with our mouth also gives assurance of our own salvation.
Romans 10:9: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Saved Christians should not be ashamed to confess Christ. After all he's done for us, it would be so wrong for us to not confess that we are just a sinner deserving of hell, but saved by the mercy of God through Christ's sacrifice on the cross and ressurrection.
Mark 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Romans 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Confessing means telling people how to be saved through trusting Christ. No one will ever be saved unless they hear the gospel and no one will ever hear the gospel unless someone tells them, whether through a printed tract, a sermon, or a one-on-one conversation, etc. That is God's plan or blueprint for saving souls. So not being ashamed of the gospel, will keep people out of hell because of the power of the gospel.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

What Is Love

What does love really mean? Some people think that love is a feeling, or something desirable or pleasurable, like your favorite kind of ice cream or something, but that is not what true biblical love is. Love is not a feeling, it is a commandment. John 13:34: A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

John 15:12: This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Jesus commands us to love people in the same way that he loves us. He gave his life, shed his blood, and went through horrible pain and agony to pay for our sins and keep us out of hell. That is a great love beyond description.
I John 4:7: Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Love means giving. God loves us so much that he gave his only son to die for us. John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Love is giving your best for another person's benefit, being unselfish. It's pressing on and going the extra mile, even when you are tired and weary and feel like you can't go on. Jesus gave everything for us, and he tells us to love others in the same way he loved us.
What kind of people does God love? Ungodly people are who he loves.
Romans 5:6: For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. It was for sinners that Jesus died, not for good people. Matthew 9:12-13 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13: But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice; for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. God has dwelt with us with mercy, and as such, we should show mercy to others.

Faith Comes By Hearing

Faith comes by hearing, not by seeing. Jesus does not just appear to people out of nowhere, like a dream or vision. A person has to hear the Gospel through the Word of God first before they can ever know how to be saved. Jesus is the Word. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jesus speaks to a person's heart about trusting him for salvation by His Word. He doesn't make lightening strike and then all of a sudden we are saved. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Jesus doesn't call on Christians to be silent. He tells us to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He didn't say to go all over the world being kind to people, then people will come to you and want to know how to be saved. There are millions of people in the world who are kind to people and help people who are not born-again Christians. Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Ephesians 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.
Ephesians 6:20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

The Gospel is something you hear, not something you see in the way a person lives. Sure, if someone is nice and shows concern and compassion for people, that makes it easier for people to want to hear the Gospel message, but they silll need to hear the Gospel to know how to be saved. Many people have turned over a new leaf, cleaned up their life from drinking, etc., but that doesn't mean they are a Christian. If they have never put their trust in Jesus as their saviour and believed in His death, burial, and resurrection, then they are just as lost as any other unregenerate sinner.

There is only one way to Heaven, and that is by hearing the Gospel and believing the Gospel. The Gospel is the death, burial, and ressurection of Jesus as recorded in His Word. Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Anyone can be saved at any moment.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:13 Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
