Some people think they are okay and safe because they are not as bad of a sinner as other people. They reason that if they're pretty good by man's standards there is nothing to worry about. But in all reality, that is a false asumption because the bible says that we are all sinners, and all means every single person who has ever lived. The worst of sinners and the least of sinners all come under the umbrella of "all". All means all, not just some.
Romans: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Man's standards are not God's standards. No matter how good of a person you think you are, you still fall short; we all do no matter who we are. That is just the simple fact of life. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden by eating the forbidden fruit, sin entered into the human race and every person born since then has inherited a sinful nature, which in turn sins. Romans 5:12 Whereby as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (Speaking of Adam).
Galatians 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
What is sin? 1 John 3:4: Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 3:5: And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. No person could ever keep all of God's commandments. It is impossible because of our inherited sin nature. That is the reason Jesus died on the cross to take our sins away by paying the penalty for them. He never did one sin, but he paid for our sins so we could obtain forgiveness and be justified in God's sight.
Since everyone is a sinner, everyone needs a saviour. 1 John 4:14: And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
1 John 2:2: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. Your sins have already been paid for by Jesus, but in order to receive the gift of your sins forgiven and everlasting life, you must accept him as your own personal saviour. John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
